Dhulikhel - is located 30km from Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, at an altitude of 800-1400 meter above sea level. The project is focused on small holder farmers in the municipality. Currently most farmers in the mid hills of Nepal, such as in Dhulikhel, grow corn and other monocultural crops which are cultivated on terraces.

The project  aims to plant 15.000 trees in two wards of the Dhulikhel municipality, focusing mainly on productive tree species. The plantation of these productive species will improve the land resilience, store carbon and generate additional income for the participating small holder farmers. The trees will be planted on the edges of agricultural field in combination with agricultural species (like corn and vegetables), which is referred to as multi-cropping methodology also known as agro-forestry. The project consist of several activities like plantation events; farmers group formation; farmers training and monitoring activities. These activities will be executed in partnership with Association of Family Forest Owners Nepal (AFFON), Dhulikhel municipality and the Green Intelligence (GI); and is funded by the British Embassy Kathmandu (UK aid) and the British Council.

The project in Dhulikhel is extended in 2023, where GI will be more extensively working with a smaller group of farmers. In the project the newly developed mobile app will be tested and the farmers will be assisted with the selections of understory (vegetables and herbs).
