SUBUKIA AGRO FORESTRY

AGRO FORESTRY SUBUKIA, NAKURU - KENYA

Subukia Project – Restoring Resilience in Nakuru County

Subukia, located in Kenya’s Nakuru County, is an area of great agricultural potential where fertile lands still support many smallholder farmers. Yet, signs of landscape degradation are increasingly visible, with nearby hilltops stripped of trees and arid conditions from the Mount Kenya region gradually spreading southward.

In early 2025, Green Intelligence introduced its agroforestry and regenerative farming approach to the communities of Wei and Chinga. The initiative was met with great enthusiasm from local farmers. During both the March and October planting seasons, thousands of seedlings were distributed, and hands-on trainings were held on organic farming, agroforestry design, and the use of the Green Intelligence digital platform.

Building on this momentum, Green Intelligence plans to expand its work to neighboring villages—helping more smallholder farmers strengthen their resilience, restore their landscapes, and reverse the ongoing land degradation in the region.
